Explore the possibilities in 2024

Happy New Year! Welcome to 2024! We are planning to EXPLORE the possibilities this year!

It’s time to ring in a new year and a fresh start. Got any resolutions? Or goals you want to accomplish? I have always viewed the new year as a fresh start. Does it take you some time to write the new year number? How many times have you listed the previous year on something you are doing in the new year? It becomes a milestone, just like another birthday does. It marks another year gone by or another year older.

Word for the year

When we embark on a fresh start, we also take on a new theme. The themes for me are in the form of a word that is chosen to set the tone for the year to come. Here are the words I have had for prior years

2021 – Align – Align my content and direction to what really matters. Giving parents and caring adults some tools to help the teens in their lives succeed.

2022 – Cultivate – Planting ideas in the form of seeds to grow some ideas to set a course for the journey.

2023 – Evolve – Take those ideas created and start on the path to developing the direction that Mentoring A Dream is going to take.

So, you may ask, what is the word (theme) for 2024? It is

My tag line to go along with it is, explore the possibilities

What are we going to Explore?

Here is a list of the things on tap for me for 2024.

On the Mentoring A Dream side of things,

Themes for 2024

  • New theme for 1Q2024 – Teen Homelessness and Addiction
  • 2Q2024 – Mental Health Awareness
  • 3Q2024 – Peer Pressure
  • 4Q2024 – Bullying/Good Will Towards Others

As we explore more in 2024, we will be working on something that will help you explore your thoughts on the challenges that teens face. We feel that this tool will help you understand the challenge, acknowledge how you feel about it, and be more equipped to talk to your teens about it. Stay tuned for more details.

The website has been updated with the new theme. Be sure to check it out Mentoring A Dream and our resource page too.

On Selma’s side of things,

Selma P. Verde Logo

As you know, Selma P. Verde is my pen name. I chose to write under a pen name to keep my writing separate from my professional (outside of writing) life. Here is what I am looking to do in 2024 on the writing side.

  • Book three of The Way Series, The Street’s Way, will be published early 2024
  • With the release of the new book, I am planning to get out to a couple more in person book fairs to talk about The Way Series.
  • Will be working on the final book in the series. The title will be announced later this year.

What are your goals for 2024?

So, that is what I am looking to accomplish in 2024. What are you planning for your year? Let me know in the comments. And, be sure to come along on our journey to EXPLORE the possibilities.

The Way Series – Good way to start the new year

Are you looking for a couple of coming-of-age reads for you or your teen about challenges they face? One great series which fits the bill in The Way Series. It is the series I have written under my pen name, Selma P. Verde.

The Way Series

Book #1The Hard Way – is the story of Paul Jones and his starting his freshman year of high school and how he must navigate dealing with pressure from his peers to do things to fit in.

Book #2Shawn’s Way – although it is a continuation of Paul’s journey from The Hard Way, we meet freshman, Shawn Townson. He becomes the target of a bully when an upperclassman decides to take out his frustration on him.

Book #3The Street’s Way – is a continuation of The Way Series which introduces Mikala Kalani to the storyline as a runaway and homeless teen. Coming your way in early 2024.

So, click on link below to my books page to learn more about the series! And be sure to pick up your copies soon, so you can get caught up on the story line before the release of The Street’s Way soon.
