Selma P. Verde is Sharon’s (the owner and visionary of Mentoring A Dream) penname. She is the author of The Way Series, a coming-of-age series of teen and young adult novels focusing on the challenges teens face. Her work is important to the promotion of our mission by providing resources to help reach teens through the noise of everyday life.
As another resource for you, we provide monthly news updates from Selma’s writing journey on our blog. These updates are posted on her author site the first Monday of every month, but we announce it here and provide a link to Selma’s blog page. Be sure check out this post or any of the other published posts on her site via the link below.
And lastly, we want to give a shout out to the books in The Way Series. This series provides parents and caring adults with great reading options for their teens. If you haven’t looked at the series yet, here is a little more information about it.

So, are you looking for a couple of good teen coming-of-age reads focusing on teen challenges? Check out The Way Series.
Book #1 – The Hard Way – Begins with the story of Paul Jones and his freshman year of high school and now must navigate dealing with pressure from his peers to fit in.
Book #2 – Shawn’s Way – Continues Paul’s journey from The Hard Way but now we meet a new freshman, Shawn Townson. He is forced to navigate being the target of a bully.
Book #3 – The Street’s Way – And The Way Series story continues with the introduction of Mikala Kalani. She is a runaway and homeless teen. Find out more when this book is released in late 2023!
